Interdisciplinary

Music is 100% one of the other disciplines that I'd say informs the work I produce most. I enjoy quite a broad range of artists and so it's difficult to say that there's anyone in particular that has had the greatest impact on my so far. It's more the power that music has to influence and inspire that I found lends towards my own practice. It's often a form of expression that is responsible for social change, like in the 60s, when with the rise of psychedelic rock coincided with a global shift in opinion. This illustrates perfectly how music was able to help spread an opinion that really challenged the more uptight one of the previous decade. If I where to choose a musician who I did thing made quite a large influence on the work I produce, I'd probably go with, Angie Stone.

Angie Stone is an artist who's music is similar in terms of its capacity to inspire change. Her music is empowering and often touches on pressing issues. However, even on a much simpler level - I find that the sounds and beat of her music and other similar artists can really influence and inspire my decisions as a practitioner. I often find myself inspired to produce certain patterns or use particular colours purely down to the sound I can hear. I think it may be fun to challenge myself to design some album covers for some of my favourite artists and see where that goes.
