This module has been one that I’ve not felt I’ve always completely understood. I have found most of the study tasks quite interesting and enjoy looking at the meaning behind peoples (and my own) practice. I think that next year, as I become more comfortable on the course and hopefully more motivated, I will see a greater demand from this module. When creating my presentation, I was made to look over what has gone well and what hasn’t for me over the past year, and then used what I’d learnt in order to help me plan my next steps with the course. I did find this really useful.
Over the past two years I’ve found that my interests lie in clean, simple & colorful digital illustrative work. Like the work of Olympia Zagnoli or Christoph Niemann. The styles of illustrators like this have influenced my work. I really want to spend more and more time on illustrator and Photoshop in order to give myself a greater ability to create digitally.

I understand the aim of this module; however, I do not yet feel that I am able to identify exactly where I may situate myself as a creative practitioner. I do have ideas in terms of routes that I may take. But I do not yet feel comfortable in saying anything for certain. The main things I learnt from planning my presentation are that I was able to show strength in the projects that I really clicked with and that’s because I enjoyed them. This has helped me to realize that in future I just need to find a way to incorporate something into a project that I find interesting. Another useful way of improving my practice would be to undertake self-initiated projects, working in areas that I am interested – such as music.

Over summer this is something that I aim to do. Hopefully this will provide me with some needed confidence about my capabilities. This would in turn have the potential to allow me to return in September a lot more prepared and ready to work. I’m quite happy with the things I have learnt from this module. Such as, inspiration can be taken from anything. Music is something I’ve found really interesting to work with this year. It’s made me keen to play around more with it. Another thing I’ve learnt is that the scope for where illustration can be exhibited is so vast. It’s a tool that can come in useful in so many environments and I guess learning this has made me appreciate the discipline a lot more. Seeing how broad it is spread suggests to me that it is such an important thing.
